The Centre for International Governance Innovation invites Young Scholars to submit research papers for a juried competition that will be part of our annual conference series, CIGI'08. This year's conference is taking place on October 25-26, 2008 and will focus on "China in the Shifting World Order." Papers submitted to the competition should explore global consequences of the political and economic rise of China with special attention paid to international and global governance. The 2008 Routledge-GCP&S Essay Competition is inviting entries from students and eligible early career academics that explore aspects of political, economic, and cultural life as these impact on relations across national borders. The winner is awarded $US500, a certificate from our publisher, and their entry is considered for publication in our journal. Essays submitted should be between 6000-8000 words in length. The winning essay, if successfully peer reviewed, will be published alongside important contributions to upcoming issues of the journal. The Air War College (AWC) at Air University seeks a candidate for the position of Deputy Director, Center for Strategy and Technology (CSAT) and Professor of Future Conflict. The Center is a research organization that funds, directs and conducts research on the interplay between challenges and choices made in technology and strategy and their consequences. York University's Glendon College is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Professor. Duties will include administrative responsibilities namely chairing the Department of International Studies (DIS) as well as teaching at the undergraduate level for an interim period of 11 months. The successful candidate must be able to teach and work in English and French. Knowledge of Spanish would be an asset. The successful candidate must demonstrate commitment to teaching and research in International Studies in a bilingual, interdisciplinary and multicultural context, hold a PhD in International Studies and have publications and research projects in the field. The German Chancellor Fellowship seeks to identify career-oriented individuals from any profession or field of study who, through educational background and professional experience, demonstrate outstanding potential for future leadership. Many alumni now hold prestigious positions in social and policy sciences, government, law, journalism, communications, management, finance, economics, architecture, humanities, public service, and environmental affairs.
Applicants design individual projects tailored to their professional development and goals. They must also identify a German host/mentor who agrees to provide professional assistance throughout the twelve-month program. Ten awards are given annually in the United States. The program also includes fellowships for citizens of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China. Prior knowledge of German is not a prerequisite. Fellows are required to attend intensive language training in Germany prior to the start of the fellowship.
