Ph.D. students working on dissertations involving archival research (particularly in newly accessible archives such as from the former communist bloc or from processes connected to transitional justice around the world) on topics related to modern history and international relations are invited to apply to participate in a five-day Summer Institute on Conducting Archival Research (SICAR) at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Students from disciplines including history, government and politics, international relations, sociology, anthropology, and public policy, as well as area and regional studies programs are encouraged to apply. SICAR will focus on training graduate students to get the most out of their time conducting research in archives. The deadline for applications is March 7, 2008.
