The Susan S. Northcutt Award was established in 2003 by the Women's Caucus for International Studies (WCIS) to honor the Caucus' founder, Susan S. Northcutt. The award recognizes a person who actively works toward recruiting and advancing women and other minorities in the profession, and whose spirit is inclusive, generous and conscientious. Furthermore, the recipient has made significant contributions through service and competence in the profession of international studies and to the International Studies Association. The award is made annually on the basis of nominations by member(s) of the ISA and selection by the Executive Committee of WCIS. The award is presented in person at the ISA Business Meeting of the Annual Convention. To nominate a candidate for the Northcutt Award, please send 1) a brief paragraph outlining the nominee's qualifications, and 2) the nominee's contact information to WCIS Co-Chair, Gale Mattox at: mattox@usna.edu <mailto:mattox@usna.edu>. The deadline for nominations is January 7, 2008.
WCIS has also created a separate fund to support this award. If you would like to make a donation to this fund, please send a check to ISA Headquarters. The check should be payable to ISA, with a notation that it is for the WCIS Susan S. Northcutt Award fund.
