Berlin Seminar

Bradley University's annual Berlin Seminar will be held from June 22 through June 28, 2008. This program is intended for academics interested in the history and contemporary culture, society, economy, and politics of Germany and Europe. Centered at the European Academy in Berlin-Grunewald, activities include discussions with leaders from the realms of academia, culture, and politics. There will also be guided trips to points of historical and contemporary interest, including a day trip to Dresden. All sessions are conducted in English or with a translator. The cost is $1900, which includes room and board in Berlin, the seminar program, and trips during the week. Applications are due by January 15, 2008. The Lewis & Clark College Department of International Affairs invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position with a specialization in the international politics of developing area(s).  Preference will be given to candidates with scholarly and teaching interests in one or more of the following areas: nationalism, ethnic conflict, civil war, civil-military relations, and/or developed-developing country relations.  A regional expertise in Africa or Latin America is required as is the demonstrated capacity to teach courses on the international politics of the candidate's regional area and the department's introduction to international affairs course. Reminder: The deadline to apply for a travel grant to attend to 2008 ISA Annual Convention in San Francisco is Friday, September 14th.

CfP: RISA 5th Anniversary Convention

The Program Committee of the 5th Convention of the Russian International Studies Association (RISA).We encourage the submission of papers, panels and roundtables grouped around the theme View from the Future. The convention will be held September 26-27, 2008, at MGIMO-University, Moscow, Russia. We would be eager to see innovative papers that move beyond the standard research panel format, for example those coauthored by individuals possessing different viewpoints. The deadline for the submission of proposals is March 1, 2008, to be sent to info@risa.ru.

Alker Memorial

The memorial for Hayward Alker will be held on 8 October, at noon at the United University Church (817 West 34th Street) on the USC campus. A reception will follow.
