The Centre for Constructions and Identity at the University of Huddersfield is organizing a two day conference to be held on 5th-6th June 2008. The main theme of the conference is Britishness: The View from Abroad, examining Britishness within global contexts, addressing such issues as transnationality of identity, British diasporas and the implications of dual citizenship across the former Empire and beyond. We seek papers from a range of contributors across disciplinary boundaries to build a coherent and cogent assessment of the importance of Britishness beyond the current borders of the UK state. We would invite abstract submissions of 300 words from those interested in presenting papers to the organizers by November 1, 2007. For more information, please see the conference website.
