The U.S. Institute of Peace seeks a person to serve as a Program Officer in the Institute’s Grant Program. Duties include: 1) Participating in program planning for the effective expenditure of grant funds; 2) implementing program policies and plans; 3) managing a portfolio of existing grants to civil society organizations and assisting new applicants with the preparation of grant applications; 4) reviewing and evaluating proposals; 5) managing an internal staff and external peer review process of proposal evaluation; and 6) monitoring the implementation and evaluation of grant projects and contracts. The successful candidate will also conceptualize and organize conferences, seminars and workshops related to the person’s area of expertise; write concept papers for internal discussion and external distribution; serve as a convener, speaker, panelist, resource person and rapporteur; and carry out related conference duties.
