INSS is a policy research and strategic gaming organization within the National Defense University (NDU) serving the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and its interagency partners. The Director establishes priorities for and oversees the work of the Institute’s research, strategic gaming, conferences, and publications organizations. The ideal candidate will have most or all of these qualifications and experience: significant experience in national security affairs at senior levels, preferably in the U.S. government; demonstrated ability to communicate with senior U.S. and foreign officials and public audiences; experience in a leadership position in a major research or academic organization; and preferably a PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field.
