The ISA travel grants program has been created to provide junior scholars, senior graduate students and scholars from low-income countries some assistance to enable them to attend conferences that would otherwise be out of reach for all but the better paid, senior faculty. Only ISA members may qualify for an ISA Annual Convention travel grant.
Questions regarding ISA Annual Convention travel grants can be addressed to the Travel Grant Coordinator, Brittany John, at travel.grants@isanet.org.

Travel grant applications for the 2013 Annual Convention in San Francisco opens on June 6, 2012 and closes on September 10, 2012.. Individuals can Apply for Travel Grant online via MyISA (please note, you must first select the relevant convention prior to applying). Please be sure to read the guidelines before applying.
Other Conference Travel Grants
Periodically, ISA works with ISA Regions, Sections and Caucuses and international co-hosts to offer limited travel grants for specific conferences. See Future Meetings for information on upcoming conferences and their independent travel grant details, including the following:
- The travel grant application period for the 2013 PSS-ISA Joint Conference in Budapest is closed. All the funds have been allocated to respective applicants.
Travel Grant Guidelines (Annual Convention)
Please read the following guidelines carefully. Your submission of a request for funding signifies your understanding and acceptance of these circumstances, conditions, and procedures.
Application Guidelines
- Requests for funding received after the date of the published deadline for receipt of requests will not be supported.
- To participate and a receive financial support award, applicants must be members at the time of the convention and must pre-register for the convention.*
* Individuals can choose to defer either registration, memberships dues, or both to receipt of the travel grant at the time of application. - Requests for funding from ISA can be considered only when submitted on the on-line form. You will receive an immediate confirmation of your completed application. Please keep this for your records.
Awarding Guidelines
- Key principles guiding priority consideration for financial support include: (a) support for applications from developing countries, or countries with currency conversion problems; (b) support for applicants who have not received funding from ISA during the past two years; (c) support for applicants holding full-time professional appointments at institutions of higher education and/or research.
- Due to limited resources and large numbers of requests, awards made by the Association almost always are for less than the total cost of convention participation. Financial awards in the recent past have averaged between US$600 and US$900 for applicants with currency conversion issues, and between US$200 and US$500 for other recipients.
- In general, partial transportation costs can be considered for coverage through ISA awards. Costs other than travel are usually not considered in determining the amount of the award.
- Final decisions regarding requests for funding are made by the executive office of ISA, acting under guidelines approved by the Governing Council of the Association and on the basis of information provided by the program chair.
- Support shall not be provided to persons whose proposal for participation has not been formally accepted by the program chair.
Acceptance Guidelines
- We encourage applicants to email their receipts to: travel.grants@isanet.org
