Professional Development Committee

Dating back to the early days of ISA, the Professional Development Committee gives voice to the interests and needs of graduate students and faculty members of ISA by promoting the professionalism and activity of scholars. They develop and provide a forum to assist scholars in expanding their careers inside and outside of academia.

About

Terms

  • The term of service for Region President committee members corresponds to their term as region president
  • At-Large Members serve two-year terms that officially begin with the start of the ISA Annual Convention meeting of the first year listed and end with the closing of the ISA Governing Council meeting of the final year listed

Selection

  • Permanent standing committee
  • President will appoint the President of each region to the committee
  • At-Large Members appointed by ISA President with approval by ISA Governing Council (additional At-Large Members appointed as needed in order to insure diversity in institutional representation, including non-academic institutions, usually 2-3)
  • President, Past-President, President-Elect, Executive Director and Director of Operations of ISA will serve as ex-officio members

Responsibilities

The Professional Development Committee reviews and evaluates proposals for professional development activities at ISA regional meetings and the annual convention. It communicates these activities with the broader ISA membership and formally reports to the Governing Council on the activities and committee allocation of funding.
