Dating back to the early days of ISA, the Nominating Committee is tasked with overseeing the nomination process, ensuring that each will serve ISA well in terms of scholarship, visibility, commitment, and service to ISA. The Nominating Committee prepares and publishes any calls for nominations.
Responsibilities
The Nominating Committee provides a slate of Officers that includes the President, three (3) Vice-Presidents, and the Treasurer, for official publication each year in November. The Committee evaluates nominees, based on three criteria for leadership: a) international scholarly recognition; b) a history of service with the association and knowledge of the association; and c) theoretical, methodological, geographical, gender, ethnic, and racial diversity among the leadership of the association. It then forwards its nominees to the membership for approval or rejection. They report the Committee’s nominations at the Governing Council Meeting during the ISA Annual Convention.

* The Incoming ISA President nominates 3 members to the Nominating Committee and his/her appointments are confirmed by the Governing Council at the meeting prior to the beginning of the ISA Annual Convention. In addition, the Incoming ISA President nominates a "Convener" from among either his/her appointments or the other 6 continuing committee members. The Convener's job is to then coordinate (with the assistance of ISA-HQ and the Executive Director) the committee's first meeting of the year, held DURING the Annual Convention. The committee's first official act of business is to elect a chair from among the committee membership, at which point the Convener's job concludes and s/he resumes the role of a committee member.
