Below are several major ISA Annual Convention polices that we would like to highlight. For more details regarding participant expectations and policy rationale, please download the Annual Convention Participant Guidelines (PDF).
Proposal Submission
Proposals must be submitted via ISA’s Convention website (MyISA). Scholars who submit proposals for panels or roundtables must not place an individual on the proposed panel or roundtable without his or her consent. Scholars wishing to participate in the program must adhere to the submission deadline of June 1st.
Overview of Submission Process
If you are interested in an explanation of the paper and panel proposal process, we have posted an overview here.
Section Panel Allocation Data
Data on past and current panel allocations have been compiled and are available here for download in Excel format.
Frequency of Appearances
Participants are allowed to present no more than two papers, with a total of four maximum participations, including acting as discussant and chair. ISA’s Convention website (MyISA) will thus limit a participant’s submissions.
The limitation on the number of appearances will be waived for participants serving on a panel that is honoring an ISA member, or for other exceptional circumstances identified by the Program Chair(s).
Participant Pre-Registration Deadline & Withdrawal Penalty
Participants who fail to register by October 17, 2012 will be presumed to have WITHDRAWN their participation and will NOT appear in the Annual Convention Program. The full list of dates and deadlines is found here.
If you withdraw from participation in the convention without a legitimate and unavoidable reason and do not inform us by NOVEMBER 19TH, ISA regulations will prevent you from submitting a proposal to the next ISA convention. Legitimate, unavoidable reasons will be evaluated by ISA on a case by case basis. Please note that YOU MUST INFORM THE PROGRAM CHAIRS of your desire to withdraw.

Working Language
In an effort to provide the greatest possible access to our members and attendees, ISA requires that all presentations at our Annual Convention are made in English. While ISA takes pride in fostering diversity, we unfortunately do not have the resources for multiple working languages or translations facilities. We understand that this sometimes puts a strain on some of our international colleagues but in general it has been able to provide a common language that facilitates discussion among our very diverse membership and attendee population.
Online Paper Archive
Paper presenters are responsible for both providing copies of their paper to their fellow panelists and uploading their paper to the online paper archive at least two weeks prior to the onset of the Annual Convention. The paper archive is located in MyISA and may be found in the My Program area. Please see the paper archive website for more information.
Travel Grants
The travel grant application deadline is September 9th. Please note that this deadline is BEFORE acceptance notices are sent. Interested parties must submit travel grant applications prior to receiving program placement confirmation. Individuals interested in applying for travel grants must be ISA members at the time of the Annual Convention AND must be registered for the Convention. It is possible to defer both membership and registration fees to the travel grant itself at the time of application. This allows us to carefully consider the many applications received before awarding the limited funds available. Travel grants will only be awarded to individuals who appear on the final Program. Please see the travel grant website for more information.
