Call for Officer Nominations

ISA 2018 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

PRESIDENT AND VICE-PRESIDENTS

The International Studies Association Nominating Committee invites members of the association to nominate candidates to be considered for offices for 2019-2020, including a president and three vice-presidents, each of whom will serve a one-year term. Criteria for officers are: professional distinction and past involvement in, and knowledge of, the ISA. One of the Vice Presidents shall be resident outside the recognized regions of the Association (recognized regions include ISA-Asia-Pacific, ISA-Canada, ISA-Midwest, ISA-Northeast, ISA-South, and ISA-West). Nominations should contain: (1) a detailed letter that addresses the nominee's professional accomplishments and service to the association; (2) a current vita for the candidate; and (3) a short statement by the nominee acknowledging the nomination. The ISA is strongly committed to diversity in its officers. Current members of the nominating committee are not eligible while serving their three-year terms.

Application and Nomination Procedure:

The members may nominate any candidate, including themselves, for the positions of President or Vice President. Nominations must be received by June 15, 2017, and include a letter of nomination, curriculum vitae, and a short statement by the nominee acknowledging the nomination and stating their willingness to meet the demands of the office.

Nominations should be sent directly to the nominating committee at this email: nominations2018@isanet.org. Please put "ISA Nomination for (insert title of office)" in the subject line. The ISA President should be willing to travel on Association business. Additional officer responsibilities can be found listed in the ISA Constitution. The individual nominated may also indicate their willingness to serve in another position; e.g. someone nominated for the role of Vice President may indicate their willingness to serve as President or vice versa.

The Nominating Committee will review the candidates' qualifications with respect to the requirements of the position as stated in the call for nominations (viz. academic credentials, prior service to the Association, and diversity) and nominate candidates for approval by the membership. The Nominating Committee will inform all candidates of their status in a timely way.

AT-LARGE REPRESENTATIVES TO THE GOVERNING COUNCIL

The International Studies Association Nominating Committee invites members of the association to nominate candidates to be considered for the position of At-Large Representative on the ISA Governing Council. At-Large Members do not represent any specific Section of ISA and are included in the Governing Council in order to ensure representation of membership from non-recognized ISA regions. One (or more) At-Large Members may be appointed to a role on the Executive Committee at the discretion of the President-Elect. Self-nominations are welcome. At-Large Representatives serve a two-year term and must be from outside the recognized regions of the Association (recognized regions include ISA-Asia-Pacific, ISA-Canada, ISA-Midwest, ISA-Northeast, ISA-South, and ISA-West). Thus, nominations from outside these recognized regions including Africa, Europe, Middle East, Latin America, and South Asia are encouraged. The Nominating Committee should put forth at least 5 nominees for the role of At-Large Member - the membership will elect three to the position. Criteria for council member include professional distinction and knowledge of the ISA. Nominations should contain: (1) a detailed letter that addresses the nominee's professional accomplishments and experience with the association; (2) a current vita for the candidate; and (3) a short statement by the nominee acknowledging the nomination. The ISA is strongly committed to diversity in its officers.
