About IO

The IO Section is dedicated to the study of contemporary and historical international integration processes, transnational interactions, and formal and informal international institutions. At present, there are some 200 IO Section members, mainly comprised of international relations scholars, practitioners, and graduate students.

The IO Section offers two annual awards -- the Chadwick F. Alger Prize for the best book published in the area of international organization studies, and the Lawrence S. Finkelstein Award for the best panel paper proposal submitted at the ISA Annual Conference. All members of ISA are encouraged to apply for these awards.

Like all sections of ISA the IO Section is entitled to sponsor panels and host events at the ISA Annual Convention. Other section events and activities will be organized by the section officers and leaders.
