ISSS PATRICIA WEITSMAN AWARD 2018

The Patricia Weitsman Award for Outstanding ISSS Graduate Paper recognizes the best graduate student paper on any aspect of security studies.

General Information

Recipients must meet the following criteria:

  • Recipient must be a current member of ISA
  • Recipient must have been a graduate student at the time the paper was delivered.
  • Nominated papers must have been delivered at either the 2016 ISSS-ISAC conference held at the University of Notre Dame or the 2017 ISA Annual Convention in Baltimore.

Selection Process

  • Papers must be nominated according to the application process described below.
  • The selection will be made by the ISSS Best Article and Paper Award Committee.

Prize

  • The recipient of this award will receive a plaque and a $500 prize, which will be distributed at a reception of the ISA Annual Convention in San Francisco in 2018.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Papers presented at the 2016 ISSS-ISAC Conference (at Notre Dame) or the 2017 ISA Annual Convention (in Baltimore) are eligible for nomination for the award to be presented in 2018.
  • Nominees must be current members of ISA and graduate students at the time the paper was delivered.

Application Process

  • Please send a full PDF copy of the nominated paper, along with a one-paragraph justification for the nomination, to the selection committee chair, Jennifer Erickson (jennifer.erickson.2@bc.edu).
  • Nominations (with an electronic copy of the paper) normally come from faculty supervisors or mentors, as well as panel chairs or discussants at the above-mentioned conferences.
  • The deadline for nominations is June 1, 2017.

The recipient of the ISSS Patricia Weitsman Award will be announced at ISA 2018 in San Francisco.
