In addition to its normal program activities, ISA 2017 Baltimore has a number of special events on our program that add variety and new opportunities for our participants:

Innovative Panels

These give an opportunity to move beyond the structure of traditional panels. ISA only accepts eight innovative panels each year. Past innovative panels have been mock trials, debates, video panels, and other unique sessions that bring something new to the convention. To submit your proposal by May 15, 2016, visit the Innovative Panels page here.

Career Courses

The deadline for Career Courses for ISA's Annual Convention is June 1, 2016!  ISA Career Courses will be half-day courses held during the ISA Annual Convention in Baltimore, Maryland, that offer participants an in-depth instruction on advanced topics such as methodology, teaching strategies, software, and more. To submit your proposal, visit the Career Courses page here.

Working Groups

Are you interested in coordinating a Working Group at the ISA 2017 Annual Convention in Baltimore, Maryland?  Then make sure to submit your proposal before the June 15, 2016!  Working groups offer attendees a forum for dialogue and interaction around designated issue areas. By participating in a working group, conference attendees discuss the most thought-provoking issues in their section as well as their own research through an extended and focused discussion. Working group proposals can be submitted here.

Research Workshop Grants

The International Studies Association is pleased to announce our Research Workshop Grant Program for 2016-2017. These grants are designed to support workshops for collaborative research that is new and innovative and involves scholars who are drawn from the global international studies community. Research Workshop Grant proposals are due July 31, 2016. For more information, visit the Workshop Grants Website.

Pay it Forward

Applications are open for the 2017 ISA Pay it Forward program!  This is designed to mentor female graduate students and junior faculty to successfully maneuver within the discipline and will take place at ISA Baltimore 2017. Event activities will target processes of getting a job, publication, tenure, promotion, work-life balance, and navigating a gendered field. The deadline to apply is June 5, 2016, and space is limited, so make sure to complete your application soon!

We hope these specialty programs will add value to your annual convention experience.
