Dear ISA Midwest members,

Hope the end of the semester is going well. As a reminder, please consider nominating yourself or others for the following awards, also discussed on http://webs.wichita.edu/?u=isamw&p=/confawards. The deadline for best paper nominations is December 31st.

Quincy Wright Distinguished Scholar Award
This award is given every year to a scholar who has signficantly influenced international studies scholarship in the ISA-Midwest region. The Quincy Wright Award honors a scholar with an exceptional record of scholarship in international studies, a distinguished record of service to the International Studies Association and/or other international affairs organizations, and a record of service within the region. Recipients receive a plaque and give a special address at the award luncheon. Nominations should be sent annually to the ISA Midwest President by January 15 for the next conference in November.

Excellence in Teaching and Mentoring Award
This award is broadly designed to honor faculty members in the ISA Midwest region who excel in working with students, recognizing that a core part of our work as educators takes place both in and out of the classroom and can significantly impact the lives of our students. The award takes into account that excellence in teaching may take a variety of forms. The recipient receives a plaque and recognition at the annual meeting. Nominations for the 2016 award should be sent to Sue Davis, Chair, no later than May 15, 2016.

J. David Singer Best Book Award
This award is given every other year to the author (or co-authors) of an outstanding book published in the previous three years (no edited volumes). The author(s) must be a member of the ISA Midwest, or have attended the conference in the previous five years, and the nomination must be made by an ISA Midwest member (self-nominations accepted). The recipient receives a plaque and recognition at the annual meeting. The next book award will be given at the 2015 conference (books published in 2013, 2014, 2015 will be eligible). Committee Chair: Dr. Davis Brown.

Klingberg Best Faculty Paper Award
This award is given to the best faculty paper presented at the conference each year. Nominations should be sent to the Program Chair by December 31, following the conference. Faculty can self-nominate if they would like to. The recipient receives a certificate and a $200 honorarium.

Lynne Rienner Best Student Paper Award
This award is given to the best student paper presented at the conference each year (graduate or undergraduate). Nominations should be sent to the Program Chair by December 31, following the conference. Students can self-nominate if they would like to. The recipient receives a certificate and $250 courtesy of Lynne Rienner publishing.

Hermann Award
This award is given to the best paper using textual analysis presented at the conference each year (faculty or student). Nominations should be sent to the Program Chair by December 31, following the conference. Faculty can self-nominate if they would like to. The recipient receives a certificate and $500 courtesy of Social Science Automation (SSA).
