We are slightly more than a month away from the annual ISA-NE conference in Providence, RI.

I write to remind you to reserve rooms at the conference hotel, the Providence Biltmore. The hotel is recently renovated and we have secured a reasonable rate. Every year, a number of participants seek alternative hotel arrangements. We understand. Funds are scarce and it is possible to get cheaper accommodations.

Here's the thing, though. ISA-NE offers low registration costs, especially for graduate students, and provides travel support for a significant number of participants. These, and other aspects of the ISA-NE experience, are only possible if enough people stay at the conference hotel. If we do not meet our minimum "pickup," then we face out-of-pocket expenses and more expensive rates in the future. Right now, the hotel "pickup" is below target. So if you intend to stay at the hotel but haven't made your reservation, then please consider doing so sooner rather than later. If you were thinking about staying elsewhere, then please give serious attention to the advantages of staying at the conference hotel in terms of comfort, convenience, and supporting ISA-NE.
